Nokia N920

By Fero Alenc

So finally we have been graced with the presence of the Nokia N920, the awesome successor of N900. Many people are of the view that the set will be a touch-only device with an extremely large 4.13-inch capacitive screen, ARM Cortex A8 CPU, 32GB internal memory and Maemo 6 OS. But we can't just give way to the rumours only, it's the real thing that we will have to wait for and then decide for ourselves.

Now the main difference people think would be the fact that while the N900 comes with a QWERTY keyboard and a smaller resistive screen, the N920 will only have a touchscreen, a highly developed one at that. We also have GSM facility along with HSPA capabilities. The regular features like Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth along with the standard 3.5 mm audio jack and a microSD card slot will also be accompanying the handset. The camera is just the same, there is no specific difference between that of the N900 and this one. It will roughly be a 5 megapixel unit.

Even the CPU is said to be the same as that on Nokia N900 - the 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 implanted on the OMAP3430 podium. We are not sure about the version but no matter what it is, we can be certain of the fact that N920 UI is going to be implementing more than just some regular applications and some interface just to establish its superiority over the original all-landscape N900.

Now many people intend to keep on calling it a tablet device even when it has GSM and will centralize around the VoIP telephony. If that's not enough, the phone also boasts the regular social networking facilities that are all the rage these days.

Of course, nothing is official as yet, the pictures have leaked but a lot more information is still not out in the open. So until then we can only make guesses. But one thing is for sure, Nokia N920 is one handset that will impress everyone who's going to buy it. - 31403
