Ink Refills for the Smart

By Annie S. Green

Who says you have to spend more money than you have to when you're printing out hundreds of pages regularly? Brand new cartridges are really costly to buy even the cheapest ones in the market. For a fraction of the price of the new one, you can extend the life of your cartridge with refills. One or two refills are recommended. You don't have to be throwing out too many cartridges that will cause a lot of garbage anyway. You can buy ink refills online pretty easily so why pay too much for a cartridge when these would work just the same and save you a lot more money in the end? You can opt for this cheaper means but you've got to know what you're doing so you don't break your printer.

Get refill kits that are compatible with the printer model you're using. You can't just swap refills with a totally incompatible cartridge. That would just compromise the quality of your printouts. Printer ink would vary in formula depending on the brand and model and a couple of other things that aren't worth looking into.

Don't let your cartridge run empty. I've made this mistake a few of times and it just totally messed up the printer. You'd have to run the printer maintenance program a hundred times every time you print something out just so it would temporarily correct the damage done to it by a clogged cartridge outlet.

The set of instructions that come with the refill kit should be followed entirely. Never miss anything or you'll damage the ink cartridge and maybe even the printer head. That would totally defeat the purpose of going cheap as it will end up costing you a whole lot more. You can as might was well throw out the printer if you're careless and went ahead with the refill anyway.

Put the right colors in the right cartridges. You want the cartridges to print out correctly so don't mix the colors around. It is not OK unless you don't mind psychedelic pictures coming out of your printer when they're clearly not intended to be so. Even if you've done refilling a hundred times, you can't avoid spilling a few drops here and there. Do keep a cloth around to keep your area free of spatter.

If you've managed to keep everything else clean but at the expense of staining your hands, wash it first with mild soap to remove the extra oil. Wash it with a diluted bleach solution. Wash the bleach off with soap.

Using ink refills are really economical. Just observe a few things and you are on your way to saving yourself a lot of expenses. - 31403
