The Many Types Of Printers

By Milrika Ekilski

While a good computer is important, a good printer should not be overlooked. Unfortunately, when purchasing a computer, many people do not give much thought to the printers and just buy whatever is on special. That is unfortunate, because the right printer can make all the difference in the world.

There are many options for your perfect printer. For many it can be quite confusing. The many options include laser printer, portable printer, multifunction printer, photo printer, and inkjet printer to choose from. How you will use your computer is probably the best determinant for which print is best for you.

A laser printer is the fastest printer available. They are great for those printing large amounts of black and white documents. A laser printer does not have expensive cartridges to replace. They use a single cartridge similar to a typewriter. They have superior quality and are definitely worth it for the medium to large office.

A Portable printer works great with laptop users. Designed to be easy to carry and use, portable printers are made to be taken with you. They are ideal for computer users who need to print information on the go and cannot return to a desk to do so.

Bigger is better for many consumers and multifunction printer fill that need. These printers do at least three functions and sometimes they do four. A multifunction printer can replace the job of a scanner, copier, and fax. They are also pretty good at printing. All that comes at a slight price however. Although they do everything, they do not do everything as well. If you are in need of the fastest printing, the best scanning, or the quickest copier, you might want to look elsewhere.

A Photo printer is specifically designed for printing rich colors. They are not the fastest, but they are definitely the best looking. These detail giants are generally priced at the highest end of the spectrum, and can be quite large. Although many printers have great print quality, a photo printer can be identified by its many cartridges, sometimes doubling those in a standard printer. Computer users who work in design or photography will benefit from these color rich accessories.

For many people the standard ink jet printer will be the best fit for them. The inkjet is the standard for consumer printers. It offers above average speed and affordability for the average printer. It is called an ink-jet because unlike a laser printer, ink is jetted onto the printed surface through different technologies. Different brands have their own special way of getting the ink out of the cartridge. All printers, except lasers, are a type of inkjet printer.

Printers like computers, have many options. Take the time to compare what's available and you can save yourself valuable time and money. - 31403
